Counselling

We do have an in house counsellor who sees our
patients who have been referred through the Talking Space Team. This is
an organisation who helps us manage our patients with depression and
anxiety. They run a tier cared system approach. If you feel that you
need counselling please make an appointment to discuss this further with
your doctor. If you do require referral your GP will give you a form to
fill in and send off a separate referral. You then will be asked to call
Talking Space for a 30 minute phone consultation to help you decide which
form of therapy may be beneficial to you. They offer, directed
self-help, group work, counselling and psychology. Locally you can choose to see a Counsellor at Wantage Counselling. They accept self referrals but will charge according to your financial means. They can be contacted on 01235 769 744 or via their website here. There are obviously a number of private counsellors working locally. We would advise you to only see those counsellors who are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. You can search for a counsellor via their website here. There are various self help sites that we recommend as GPs. If you wish to look at these they are both free, requiring registration with an email address.
