We offer a full range of confidential contraception services
through the GPs and nursing team. We can give advice on the different types of contraception available. These include contraceptive pills, injections, implants (Implanon), coils and barrier methods. We can also give advice and guidance on male and female sterilisation. For an overview of different contraception methods to help you decide what may be right for you can be downloaded here (this is a pdf file). For further information and to download more detailed leaflets concerning each form of contraception please look at the Family Planning UK website here. If you are started on oral
contraception you will initially be given a 3 month prescription, if
everything is going well this will be followed by a 6 monthly
prescription. Once you are established on oral contraception you will
need to have your blood pressure, weight and smoking history recorded
once a year. This is because the risk of taking some contraceptives
changes with this information. Thus we may have to stop or change your
prescription because of this. You will be also be offered longer acting
forms of contraception annually, which you may not have considered
before. |
