     Appointments

There are three main ways to make an appointment with a Doctor, Nurse or Health Care Assistant:

  • Telephone on 01235 770245 between 08:30 and 18:30, Monday to Friday

  • Ask at the reception desk between 08:30 and 18:30, Monday to Friday

  • Online at any time by the above link or click here. You will be only offered a selection of appointments online. If you do not have a username and password please contact reception to get  to this service.

We book a selection of appointments  up to a month in advance. The rest of the appointments are run through a 24 hour access system which means that if you ring in the morning you can book an appointment up to midday the following day. Similarly if you ring in the afternoon you can book an appointment up to the end of the following afternoon.

We cannot always guarantee an appointment with your chosen Doctor on any particular day. If you look at doctors availability here it will help you choose the best days.

If you think you are likely to need longer than 10 minutes talk to reception or your GP before coming in and it may be appropriate to arrange a longer or extended appointment.

There is a range of health care professionals at the surgery. When you contact the surgery to make an appointment you will be asked if you can tell the receptionist something about the problem. The doctors have asked reception to do this to help us identify who, when and how we can best respond to your request. This is because something maybe needed to be dealt with quicker than you think and sometimes the doctor or nurse can deal with your problem over the phone rather than in person. See here for further information about telephone appointments. If you do not wish to disclose any information in regards to GP appointments you don't have to unless it is an emergency. As not all our nurses cover everything we do need to know what nurse appointments are for.

If there are no appointments and there is an urgent problem we have a system of duty doctor. This is one of the doctors working  in half a day shifts dealing with urgent problems. You will generally be asked for some details of the problem and then called back by the duty doctor to discuss the problem further. If they need to see you they will arrange this through reception for you. In this way we can always deal with urgent problems on the same day.

It is your responsibility to attend the appointments you have booked, but if you are unable or no longer need to attend, you should contact the Practice as soon as possible to let us know, so that we can offer the appointment to someone else. We will be trialling a text cancellation service in the near future.
